From the artist: “The Laminaria lamp is a poetic tribute to the organic beauty of seaweed swaying in ocean currents. Its design captures the delicate, fluid forms of underwater laminaria, with an undulating, translucent body that radiates a soft, ambient glow.​

The base of the lamp is crafted to resemble a rugged cliff stone, grounding the design in earthy realism. Made from composite materials like sand mixed with fibers, it evokes the textured surface of coastal rocks, creating a tactile and visually striking foundation. This juxtaposition of the natural and the abstract brings a harmonious balance to the lamp, blending marine inspiration with grounded, raw elements.”

About the Artist:

Mirei is a Milan-based multidisciplinary designer who began her career in her birthplace, the Philippines. Working from her roots exposed her to traditional furniture manufacturing and production, where everything is made by hand. This experience immersed her in the world of artisan crafts, while also sparking a desire to explore state-of-the-art techniques from the Western world. She graduated from Politecnico di Milano in 2017 with a degree in Design and Engineering, gaining valuable technical expertise. Her work spans product design, interior design, creative consultancy, and art direction.
